On 26 May 2026, the Embassy of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia hosted a reception in Canberra to celebrate Georgia’s Independence Day. The event was attended by representatives of Australia’s legislative and executive branches, the diplomatic corps, scientific and academic circles, the private sector and media, as well as members of the Georgian diaspora residing in various cities across Australia.
On 9 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to New Zealand (with residence in Canberra), at Europe House of Auckland University of Technology (AUT), conducted lecture on “Attaining Stability and Growth in the midst of a Geopolitical Whirlwind: The Case of Georgia”.
On 7 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to New Zealand (with residence in Canberra) participated in the Roundtable Discussion on "National Interest, Sovereignty and Imperilled International Rules-Based Order - Reflections from Georgia", hosted by New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) - Wellington Branch at Rutherford House, Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington.
Mourning was declared in Georgia on the occasion of passing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II.
On 4 February 2026, H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia held a meeting with Dr. Bryce Wakefield, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA) - one of the leading Australian think-tanks.
The Embassy of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia congratulates the Australian Government and the people of Australia on the occasion of the Australia Day. In the congratulatory message to H.E. Hon. Ms. Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, H.E. Mr. Mikheil Kavelashvili, President of Georgia wished peace, prosperity and progress to the friendly Australian people. The President of Georgia also expressed hope that the relations between Georgia and Australia will deepen and expand.
In accordance with the Law of Georgia "On Tourism", starting from January 01, 2026, all tourists entering Georgia are required to hold a valid health and accident insurance policy. Any tourist entering the territory of Georgia must present a valid health and accident insurance policy in either physical or electronic form and must be available in Georgian or English.
On 16 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to New Zealand (with residence in Canberra) attended the briefing organized jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Ministry of Justice of New Zealand on recently adopted Crimes (Countering Foreign Interference) Amendment Act 2025 (https://www.justice.govt.nz/justice-sector-policy/key-initiatives/countering-foreign-interference) that entered into force on 27 November 2025.
On 9 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia held a meeting with Mr. Arnold Jorge, CEO of the Export Council of Australia.
On 29 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, Ambassador of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia attended Canterbury Bankstown Chamber of Commerce (CBCC) Annual Gala 2025. Together with CBCC member business organisations, New South Wales (NSW) Premier Mr. Chris Minns and his Government Ministers also were represented at the event.
On 26 November 2025, Georgia Country Group - Friendship Group with Georgia - was established at the 48th Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia. The members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Australian Parliament have joined the Group from the ruling Labour Party as well as from the parties of the Opposition Coalition, namely, the Liberals and the Nationals.
On 27 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia had a courtesy call on Ms. Louise Miller-Frost MP, Chair of Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs of the Australian Parliament.
