On 26 May 2026, the Embassy of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia hosted a reception in Canberra to celebrate Georgia’s Independence Day. The event was attended by representatives of Australia’s legislative and executive branches, the diplomatic corps, scientific and academic circles, the private sector and media, as well as members of the Georgian diaspora residing in various cities across Australia.

The Embassy of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia congratulates the Australian Government and the people of Australia on the occasion of the Australia Day. In the congratulatory message to H.E. Hon. Ms. Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, H.E. Mr. Mikheil Kavelashvili, President of Georgia wished peace, prosperity and progress to the friendly Australian people. The President of Georgia also expressed hope that the relations between Georgia and Australia will deepen and expand.

In accordance with the Law of Georgia "On Tourism", starting from January 01, 2026, all tourists entering Georgia are required to hold a valid health and accident insurance policy. Any tourist entering the territory of Georgia must present a valid health and accident insurance policy in either physical or electronic form and must be available in Georgian or English.

On 26 November 2025, Georgia Country Group - Friendship Group with Georgia - was established at the 48th Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia. The members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Australian Parliament have joined the Group from the ruling Labour Party as well as from the parties of the Opposition Coalition, namely, the Liberals and the Nationals.
