Ambassador's Welcome Speech
მისასალმებელი სიტყვა
Dear Visitor,
Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of Georgia in the Commonweal of Australia.
Georgia is the Nation with centuries-old history and unique cultural heritage. And I am honoured to represent this country to the Commonwealth of Australia - the nation with the fascinating historical and multi-cultural heritage of its own - as well as to the New Zealand and other States in the Pacific region including Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.
Georgia’s relations with the Commonwealth of Australia as well as with the States of our diplomatic coverage are based on mutual respect and full understanding of the value of sovereignty and territorial integrity. Shared objectives of strengthening continuously our freedom and democratic institutions, pursuing economic development and increased welfare for citizens are conducive to enhancement further of our bilateral bonds.
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Australia were established on 16 July 1992 while the Embassy of Georgia in Canberra started operation in 2011. On 8 February 2023 I had the honour and privilege of presenting the Letters of Credence to His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia. Henceforth, I have embarked on a mission of making my humble contribution in strengthening of Georgia’s partnerships with Australia and other countries of the region. These efforts are based on a solid foundation that has already been established by my predecessors - H.E. Mr. Vladimer Konstantinidi, the first Ambassador of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia (2012-2017) and H.E. Mr. Giorgi Dolidze, the second Ambassador of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia (2017-2022).
European integration and Euro-Atlantic integration remain the two major priorities of Georgian foreign policy. At the same time, Georgia is desirous to develop our friendships across the globe. We are keen to grasp all partnership opportunities. Having this premise, for us it is of a great significance to deepen relations with Australia and the States of the Pacific and to explore all avenues of bilateral cooperation in various areas including political and economic interactions, business, culture and education.
I am hopeful that any citizen or person will find this web-site interesting and useful.
