Information on the screening in Canberra of Georgian feature film "Shindisi"
On 8 August 2023, in Canberra, in cooperation with the Australian National University (ANU) Film Group, the Embassy of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia hosted the screening of Georgian feature film “Shindisi” by Georgian Director Dito Tsintsadze. The film describes real events, the heroism of Georgian soldiers and of the inhabitants of Georgian village Shindisi during August 2008 Russia-Georgia war.
The members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Canberra and the representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) as well as Australian public attended the screening.
Ambassador of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia H.E. Mr. Beka Dvali, before the screening, had the opportunity to address the attending audience. Ambassador spoke about the decades-long Russian aggression and continuous hybrid warfare against Georgia, Russian invasion into Georgia in August 2008, continued illegal Russian occupation of Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali and the policy of ethnic cleansing carried out against Georgian population throughout occupied territories.
In addition, Ambassador Dvali emphasized the continued efforts of Georgia to contain the Aggressor State, restore the territorial integrity of Georgia and resolve the conflict by peaceful means.
Ambassador also reflected on Georgian cinematography and its rich traditions.
