​Ilia Darchiashvili was appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs

Ilia Darchiashvili was appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili announced of this new appointment at a briefing held at the Government Administration.
 
Previously serving as the head of the Government Administration, Ilia Darchiashvili has an extensive experience of working at the Diplomatic Service. He also held high positions in both private and public sectors.
 
From 2017 to 2021, Ilia Darchiashvili served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Poland. In 2015-2016 he worked in the capacity as First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure. Ilia Darchiashvili also held the posts of First Deputy Director and Executive Director of Georgia’s Municipal Development Fund.
 
Ilia Darchiashvili held various responsible positions in the private sector as well.
 
In 2019, he was awarded Rank of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador.
 
The Former Vice Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, David Zalkaliani was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the U.S. David Zalkaliani held the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2018.
