During his working visit to New Zealand, on 16 July 2021 the Ambassador of Georgia, H.E. George Dolidze held a meeting with the Minister for Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan. The main topic of the meeting was related to the well-being and inclusion of the Georgian community in New Zealand. The Minister highlighted that the portfolio was created at the beginning of July 2021 and included ethnic diversity-related issues as one of the primary responsibilities. Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan emphasized the importance of the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Georgia to New Zealand and encouraged the newly appointed Honorary Consul of Georgia to close cooperation with her office.
On 15 July 2021, the Ambassador met with the Manager of International Affairs of Creative New Zealand Jude Chambers. The possibility of international and bilateral cooperation was discussed during the meeting. Jude Chambers emphasized that due to the Covid-19 pandemic artists have suffered the most. She noted that even though museums and theatres in New Zealand have not been closed throughout the pandemic, artists are unable to travel abroad and participate in various international exhibitions or platforms. Chambers noted that the future of art during Covid-19 lies in digital platforms, which New Zealand is actively working on, and would be happy to interact with Georgia in the respective direction.
On 16 July 2021, H.E. George Dolidze participated in the morning program of the radio Humm FM. Ambassador touched upon the main aspects of Georgia’s history and its present, country’s achievements, business, investment and tourism opportunities. H.E. George Dolidze spoke about the newly opened Honorary Consulate of Georgia in New Zealand and its plans.
