On 12-18 July 2021 the Ambassador of Georgia, H.E. George Dolidze is paying a working visit to New Zealand. On 12 July, at the invitation of the World Affairs Forum and New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA), the Ambassador of Georgia gave a public lecture at World Affairs Forum. The event, held at Auckland University was attended by the representatives of local academic circles, Consular Corps and students.
In his address, George Dolidze outlined the current situation in Georgia, its achievements and the challenges it faces. The audience was provided with information related to the reforms implemented by the Government of Georgia on the path of the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Special emphasis was made on Georgia’s relations with the Russian Federation after 13 years from 2008 August war; grave humanitarian situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, as well as illegal and provocative actions undertaken by Russia and the occupation regimes. Discussions also focused on Georgia's economic development and its attractive investment and tourism potential. Ambassador talked about the current state of relations between Georgia and New Zealand and highlighted the importance of the recently appointed Honorary Consul of Georgia in New Zealand in further strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
The lecture was followed by a lively Q&A discussion, which once again demonstrated the interest of the New Zealand society in Georgia and the wider region in general.
